There was the Champions League, the Euro, now discover the League of Nations. This is a new competition organised by UEFA. It will replace the vast majority of friendly matches between European nations. 55 teams are in the running and are divided according to their coefficient in 4 divisions A, B, C, and D.
Division A will include the 12 best ranked teams according to their coefficient. The next 12 will be in Division B, the next 15 in C and the last 16 in D.
Divisions A and B will have 4 pools of three teams. C will consist of a pool of 3 and 3 pools of 4, and finally, Division D will have 4 pools of 4 teams.
The teams will compete at home and away. The 4 winners of the A division groups automatically qualify for the final phase which takes place in June 2019. As for those from other leagues, they are automatically promoted to the next division. The latter will be relegated to the lower division. Each division will have two semi-finals and a final, the winner of which will qualify for EURO 2020.
